Surepay to Mpesa

How to Withdraw Money from Surepay to Mpesa

Surepay to Mpesa service has been around for more than eight years. It was first introduced in 2015. The service allows organizations and companies to track the funds sent to recipients via Mpesa.

Surepay to M-Pesa is a system designed for PBOs (Public Benefit Organizations) and corporations like HELB (Higher Education Loans Board) who disburse money to its beneficiaries directly.

For instance, Surepay works in partnership with HELB to ensure students access their loans fast on their phones instead of going to the bank.

How Surepay to Mpesa works

Surepay to Mpesa allows corporates to trace the funds from the source to the expenditure. In essence, when you purchase alcohol with the funds meant for school fees, the fund managers will know.

According to Betty Mwangi, Safaricom Financial Services General Manager, Surepay exists to address funding challenges such as

  • Misappropriation
  • Mismanagement

WFP (World Food Programme) used Surepay to Mpesa to send cash to victims of drought in Kenya. Through Surepay, WFP tracked the funds and ensured they were only used to buy food. They were also able to track the balance left after purchasing food items.

Organizations also use Surepay to pay salaries to Mpesa-registered customers. Additionally, Surepay will also be used by farmers to access loans.

Mpesa has over 30 million customers and is the most preferred way of transferring non-cash payments.

Surepay to Mpesa service is cheaper, saves time, is reliable, and is a catalyst towards the cashless economy.
