Mombasa Plastics Prize – Win Upto Ksh 3.5 Million

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with the government of Canada, is organizing a unique campaign. I am talking about Mombasa Plastics Prize Competition.

I am sure you are excited about this competition and you should be because the Prize pool is Ksh 3.5 Million.

Mombasa Plastics Prize

This competition is being held to find people who have the passion and knowledge to tackle the plastic waste problem in Mombasa. As per the reports, 20% of the per day waste(about 850 metric tons) in Mombasa is Plastic. This plastic ultimately leaks into the ocean.

If you have an interest in tackling this type of problem and you fulfil the below-given eligibility conditions, you must apply asap for the competition.

Eligibility Criteria:

• This program is focused on the Youth of Kenya
• Applicant should be a resident of Mombasa County
• The age of Applicant should be between 18 to 25 years
• Have an interest in addressing marine plastic debris in Mombasa’s informal communities.
• Eager to work as a member of a team

The Award is designed to stimulate innovation and raise awareness among some of the key stakeholders in Mombasa County about the need to tackle the menace of solid waste.

A total of 60 Finalists will be selected who will participate in Mombasa Plastics Prize. Here are the criteria for selecting the finalists:

• Ensuring that the competitor has keenly interested in tackling plastic waste mismanagement
• Problem Solving Skills
• Is the competitor is team player
• Is the competitor creative and innovative
• Is the applicant committed towards the program

Once the 60 participants are selected, groups will be formed to work on ideas. This process will have separate judging criteria.

How to Apply for Mombasa Plastics Prize Competition 2022

In order to apply, interested applicants need to fill in the application form. Here is the process:

• Go to the application page
• Fill in the online application form. You need to provide Your Details, Video, Declaration and some other details
• Enter all the asked details and submit the form

That’s it, you have successfully applied online.

Make sure you apply before the last date i.e. 8th November 2022.
