How to Re-Register Deactivated Sim after the Deadline

As you know 15th October 2022 was the last day to verify your details with the telecom operators. If you have failed to do so, your line must be deactivated right now.

This article is specifically for those people who have missed the Sim registration deadline and want to re-register their deactivated sim. The process is similar for Safaricom, Airtel & Telkom.

Many people were taking the process casually. They were expecting that the deadline of 15th October will be further extended. However, the Communication Authority of Kenya didn’t do this. Hours before the deadline, they even tweeted this:

This was a clear indication that there was no chance of extending the Sim registration deadline. The deadline date of 15th October was extended once. The initial date was April 15 and the Communication authority extended it to 15th October. If you are still hoping for the extension, I am pretty sure this is not going to happen.

Safaricom/Airtel/Telkom Sim Re-Register Guide

Those who have failed to register their Safaricom, Airtel, or Telkom lines have their lines deactivated. However, this is not the end of the road for them, in a statement by the CA Assistant Director Liston Kirui, it was cleared that deactivated lines can still be activated by re-registering them. The process of re-registering deactivated lines is not as simple as online verification though.

The online KYC upload links are still accessible, make sure you complete the registration if you haven’t done it so far –

Telkom – https://idupload.telkom.co.ke/

Airtel – https://airtelkenya.com/lp/kyc/

As soon as this online facility becomes inaccessible, you need to follow the below-given steps to re-register your line.

How to Re-Register Deactivated Line

Visit the nearest Safaricom/Airtel/Telkom shop or dealer with the following information:

  • Carry the ID used during the registration of the line
  • Provide them with your signature
  • Provide them with your photograph

If the information provided by you is correct, the line will be reactivated by the operator.
