TIMS NTSA Account Registration, Login @ tims ntsa go ke Portal

The National Transport & Safety Authority (NTSA) is a corporation established in 2012 by Act Number 33 of the Parliament. The authority was formed to harmonize operations in the transport department to better manage the transport sector by minimizing road crashes, which account for the loss of lives.

Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) is a platform created by NTSA to enable citizens to access services online easily.

The following partners work closely with NTSA:

  • National Police Service
  • The Ministry of Health (MoH)

NTSA also partners with international partners such as:

  • African Development Bank (AfDB)
  • Trade Mark East Africa (TMEA)

The functions of NTSA include:

  1. Advising the cabinet secretary and making recommendations on road and transport safety
  2. Implementing policies that relate to the safety of the transport department
  3. Regulate and manage the road transport network and system while strictly following the provisions of the 2012 act.
  4. Provision of reliable, efficient, and safe road transport services.
  5. Administer the 2012 act of parliament as laid out on the first schedule and any law written down.

NTSA Authority Mandates Include:

  1. Licensing and registering motor vehicles
  2. Issuing of certificates after conducting motor vehicle inspections
  3. Regulating the operation of public service vehicles
  4. Advising the national government on matters concerning the road transport system
  5. Developing and implementing public roads safety strategies
  6. Sensitizing and educating members of the public on road safety matters
  7. Conducting research and finding road safety statistics
  8. Compiling inspection reports relating to road accidents
  9. Establishing systems that oversee the testing and licensing of qualified drivers
  10. Formulating and reviewing the driving school’s curriculum
  11. Performing any other function conferred by the law or the cabinet secretary.

NTSA TIMS Account Registration

To create a TIMS account, you should have the following documents

  • Your National Identity (ID) card
  • Your mother’s maiden name
  • Your active KRA pin
  • Your active mobile number

If you have the above documents, proceed to the registration portal. https://tims.ntsa.go.ke/portal/user/register/individualRegister.htm

Step 1 (Verification)

  • Enter your ID serial number in this section, then verify.

  • After verification, enter your mother’s maiden name (original surname of your mother). If it doesn’t go through, try all her names one at a time.
  • The next step will be verifying your KRA Pin (if it’s new, you might wait for 48 hrs or contact them).
  • After successfully verifying the KRA pin, you will be prompted to press Next to continue.

Step 2 (Information)

  • At this stage, your full name, gender, and date of birth will appear automatically. Enter your occupation and your working phone number, and then verify.
  • Subscribe on your mobile phone and then press “send authorization code,” and a code will be sent to your mobile number provided
  • Enter the authorization code and verify
  • Answer all the questions in this step and then press next

Step 3 (complete)

  • After you have been successful, you will be redirected to the Homepage. A one-time password (OTP) to you. Change it as soon as possible.

After successfully creating your NTSA TIMS account, it’s time to log in and apply for any service of your choice. Anytime you log in, make sure the mobile number you registered for your account is around because a secret code is usually sent to your phone each time you log in.

Once you log in, you’ll find that the portal is divided into six tabs, namely:

  • Vehicle Registration

In this section, you can view your vehicles, apply for vehicle registration, accept the transfer of ownership, change the particulars of your vehicle, apply for a duplicate logbook and reflective number plate, and reregister your vehicle.

  • Vehicle Inspection

This tab allows you to apply for a booking of inspection, an E-sticker, and download your inspection report.

  • Driving License

Here, you can apply for your driving license, take driving tests, get class endorsements, renew your license, get an instructor’s license, and view your traffic offenses.

  • Online Search

Online search allows you to search for details of motor vehicles, VMI centers, Driving Licenses, and driving school.

  • Notice & News

This is where the NTSA posts notices and News.

This is where your feedback, complaints, and compliments appear (user satisfaction feedback)

If you want to register a new vehicle or book an inspection but can’t see your vehicle on the TIMS portal, proceed to the newly revamped portal https://timsvirl.ntsa.go.ke/#!/login

As a golden rule, always ensure your credentials are confidential because when an authorized individual accesses your portal, they can transfer your vehicle without consent. Keep them secure, and don’t share.
