Once you have all the documents in order, head over to the eCitizen portal

  1. Enter your ID number or email address
  2. Enter your password
  3. You will receive a code to your registered number
  4. Enter the code
  5. Log in
  6. At the dashboard, scroll to the sixth option which is business registration services
  7. Click Continue
  8. BRS undertook a phased changeover on 4th December 2023 and the system was enhanced/transferred.

  12. Click “Apply” on business name registration
  13. Enter three proposed names (click No on the affiliation to another entity)

  19. Click next to move to the nature of business

  22. Attach relevant documents
  23. Click next to move to the office address section
  24. Enter your primary address starting with county, district, and locality
  25. Enter the plot number followed by the nearest street road
  26. Enter the floor number and room number
  27. Enter your postal address and code
  28. Enter your mobile number (starting with +254) and company email address
  29. Enter any other relevant address
  30. Click next to move to ownership information
  31. Click add proprietor
  32. Choose ID type from the dropdown menu (Citizen, foreign)
  33. Enter the National ID number followed by the first name on the ID
  34. Click search
  35. The names, date of birth, and KRA pin of the proprietor will be displayed
  36. Attach your passport photo (2MB maximum)
  37. Enter your contact details and physical details
  38. Click save and move next to application documents
  39. Download the BN-2 form, confirm the details, sign and scan it
  40. Upload the scanned BN-2 form
  41. Click next to move to the final stage of the declaration
  42. Confirm the declaration and click preview
  43. Click edit to make corrections if there are any.
  44. Click complete when satisfied everything is correct
  45. You will be redirected to the payment tab
  46. Choose your payment option (Mpesa, Airtel money, Visa, etc.)
  47. Pay Ksh 950

Your name will be reserved for 30 days only

During the 30-day window, you can apply for a Private limited company for Ksh 13,750
