The recent announcement by KUCCPS CEO has cleared it all. In her speech, she said – “Once the universities have given us their costs, which I hope they will do in a week, we will be ready to open”
As we all know, on 4th May, Wednesday, the new university education and funding model was unveiled. On this occasion, President Mr Ruto, KUCCPS CEO and other prominent personalities were present. The above statements regarding the KUCCPS 2023 Placement opening date were made during this event.
KUCCPS 2023 Intake Placement Portal
Every year, the KUCCPS Placement portal is opened so that recently passed KCSE candidates can apply for courses in various universities and TVETs. This year the KUCCPS placement portal opening date got stretched.
During his speech, President William Ruto said the unusual delay witnessed in the portal’s opening was due to the need to agree on the new funding model. He clarified that the government and the universities decided that no student would be admitted without a solid plan on how to go with the funding and their education.
Another important announcement Ruto made was that placements to the universities and TVETS would not be linked to the funding. He clarified that the focus would be on three categories: vulnerable, less vulnerable and able.
