SRC Salary Increment in Kenya – 7 to 10% Hike from July 1st

Civil servants of Kenya have reason to smile as the Kenyan government has approved a proposal of Salary increment by Salaries and Remuneration Commission SRC. This increase in salary has brought smiles on the faces of the civil servants.

It is now clear that from 1st July 2023 onwards, a hike of 7 to 10 percent in the salaries of lower cadre of civil servants will be observed.

Who will benefit from SRC Salary Increment?

This 7 to 10% hike in the salaries is applicable for Teachers, Policemen, Military Space and other working in the government. It is a great start of the month for these people.

This salary increase is for all cadres from the lowest job group up to the principal secretaries.

President Ruto said that the SRC proposed a salary increase for him and other officials, such as the deputy Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet members, and Principal Secretaries, but these proposals are currently on hold.

SRC has proposed 14% hike in their salaries, however, Ruto has preferred to increase the salaries of Civil servants and take decision on his and other members salary hike later on.

If you observe carefully, the current inflation rate is 8% plus housing levy 1.5% and nhif 2.5%. That’s 12% against 7 to 10% hike. However, it is still better than the existing salaries.
