IEBC Voter Register 2022

IEBC has released an audit rep ort dated 20^th June 2022. The final voter register is out and has been presented to KPMG, and the number of registered voters for this year’s election is more significant than the number witnessed in 2017.

2022 IEBC Voter Register Statistics

The 2022 IEBC voter register has 22,120,458 voters (12.79% growth) and 46,232 polling stations (13.08% growth). This is a steady increase from the 2017 general elections which had 40,883 polling stations and 19,611,423 voters

Diaspora voters have really turned out in large numbers, clocking at 10,444 voters in 2022 from a mere 4,223 voters in 2017. Conversely, the prison has witnessed a slight increase from 5,182 voters in 2017 to 7,483 voters in 2022.

About IEBC

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) was founded in 2011 as an independent agency under the Kenyan constitution.

The Commission’s primary responsibilities are

To conduct or supervise referenda and elections in Kenya.
Conduct any other electoral duties according to an Act of Parliament.

How are this year’s registered voters looking as compared to 2017?

According to the final voter’s list made public by the IEBC on Monday, the proportion of Kenyans between the ages of 18 and 35 who have registered to vote for the elections in August has decreased by 5.27 per cent as compared to 2017.
