Follow the newly released instructions by TSC Director to obtain a duplicate Teacher certificate if the original is lost or damaged
If your TSC Teacher certificate is lost or severely damaged, you need to apply for a duplicate copy. Recently TSC issued new guidelines related to the process of obtaining duplicate teacher certificates online. Before we discuss the process, let’s first understand what the Kenya Teacher service commission has notified recently.
TSC Teacher Certificate Lost
TSC has updated its instructions on how to apply for duplicate teacher registration certificates.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has issued a new notification outlining how tutors can obtain duplicate copies of registration certificates online, in the event of original is lost or damaged. A memo stating the same was sent to regional offices by the TSC director which states that the new directive would help reduce tutor transportation costs. Regulation 32 (1) and (2) of the 2015 Code of Regulations for Teachers provides that the commission may issue duplicate certificates of registration for a non-refundable fee of Ksh2,055, he stated in the memo.
When to apply for Duplicate TSC Teacher Certificate
Following are the situations, when you can apply for a copy of the original teacher certificate:
- You have lost the original one and can’t recover it
- Your original document is severely damaged

In order to apply for a duplicate certificate make sure you have the following ready:
- Submitted a police report stating that you lost the original one
- Keep your ID Number, KRA Pin Ready
- Keep scanned documents ready
How to Apply Online for Duplicate Teacher Certificate on TSC Website
Along with registering qualified teachers, the commission assists those who have lost their certificates in obtaining duplicates. Teachers interested in applying must complete an online application at www.tsc.go.ke. Tutors must submit an original police abstract documenting the missing certificates in order to apply.
For name changes, marriage certificates are required. Additionally, applicants must pay Ksh2,055 and possess a valid National ID card or passport. Applicants must enter their ID number, their full name, and date of birth, as well as their KRA PIN certificate, in order to proceed to the next step. After that, applicants must proceed to page four, which is the final page, where they must submit their information, which includes an upload of their scanned original documents. TSC requires all tutors to submit accurate information, and providing false information is a criminal offense. The offense carries a maximum fine of Ksh 100,000 or a 12-month prison sentence or both. Additionally, funds should be deposited in a bank and accompanied by a bank slip.
